Instructions for Series One
The first series will consist of free verse with a few quirky restraints to make things interesting. The guidelines are as follows:
- The lines do not have to rhyme.
- There are only ten lines.
- Line one must contain only 1 word (a noun or gerund). Please avoid using a word that someone else has already used.
- Lines 2 through 5 must contain only 3, 5, 7 and 10 words, respectively.
- Lines 6 through 10 must contain only 10, 8, 6, 4 and 2 words, respectively.
- A sentence may be split across two or three lines, but not four or more.
- Punctuation is optional.
- The number of syllables per line is irrelevant.
- Contractions (it’s, she’d, you’re, etc) count as one word.
- When you post, please click on the checkbox beside “Series One” in the category menu on the right of the “Write Post” screen.
Here’s an example with a non-knitting theme (don’t want to steal anyone’s moment of inspiration)
| Snow is usually white. Sometimes it is other colours. It’s blue when the sun is setting. It’s grey when clouds explode and drop their frozen baggage. My dad often kidded me about never eating yellow snow. Snow is a warm pink at dawn sometimes. However, it is a warning sign that a blizzard threatens to blow. |

STASH
It started innocently.
And somehow’s taken complete control.
Never just say no, rather more,,, more…
Always seeking, duplicating, combining, aquiring, more and more but then……
When the dust settled, the parcels ceased, shopping carts empty.
Like a dreamer I shook off the sleep.
The funds gone, the house mortgaged.
The purchasing was complete……
SABLE achieved!!!!
This is great. It is so true, in my house. Love how you pegged the emotion and acquiring of the stash.
